Blubber Burn Classic OOO5

 Laatste Ronde!
The last race of the Stuckylife Semiprestige Cyclocross Winter Series is on Jan 26th. This time around it's the annual fat burning sensation of the Blubber Burn Classic. This little race is having it's fifth birthday this year and we're proud of it's unending dumbness and hilarity.

2012 Hotel Grand Pacific Harbour Sprints à Larocque

VICF - Harbour Sprints from Aaron Larocque on Vimeo.

Apparently, I missed this little gem by Aaron Larocque from last year's Hotel Grand Pacific Harbour Sprint series. To celebrate, I took off my pants and created a Stuckylife/VIACRA channel on Vimeo. Check it out!

Tutto suona meglio in italiano

Apparently, the V.I.A.C.R.A pun translates into Italian. Do you think cultural differences will affect how this is interpreted?

Halldor Gunnarsson

Stoic.
Dependable.
Viking.
But, my god, what I wouldn't give to have a thought bubble above his head sometimes.

The Leechtown Invitational: Race Recap no.2

Yesterday morning started out grey, but unexpectedly dry.
After several cups of coffee, some last-minute preparation, and lots of indecision about glove choice, I got out the door and down to Recyclistas and the Switch Bridge for registration.

24 racers started, with an always fascinating array of competitors. A good portion chose cross bikes for the day, with a handful on road bikes. A couple of bold SSCXers, and two gallant brakeless track bikes.

A rolling start saw racers through the first 16 km of trail, providing time to strategize, chat, and check out the competition.

As soon as we were across Veterans Memorial, it was game on.

Harbour Road Sprints vol.2 - Jon Lake Photography

Harbour Road.
This past Friday, Jon Lake, turned his camera away from the teeming throngs of screaming women who follow him around Victoria nightclubs; instead, he focused his lens upon the fastest growing event in the Capital City Cycles Summer Series - the Harbour Road Sprints.

Jon is incredibly talented behind the lens. He is in serious demand these days, and we were lucky to have him join us for an evening of bicycle racing. Be sure to check out some of his other work at jonlakephoto.com.

I love the story these pictures tell about the night.

2011 Dallas Road Monster Drag - Results and Photos

Another banger spoke card by Halldor.
The Race:

Saturday, March 26, 2011 marked the third race of the Capital City Cycles Summer Race Series: The Dallas Road Monster Drag.

Racers exploded out of Gyro Park at 6:30pm and tore up the (*cough*) waterfront route along Beach Drive, King George Terrace, and Dallas Road. They finished with a manic scramble up to the finish at the flagpole atop Beacon Hill Park.

This is surprisingly one of the more grueling events in the calendar even though many racers finished in under 30 minutes: it is short enough that fit riders are beat to shit at the finish because they rode it so fast, but it is just long enough that the smokers get their asses handed to them.

Summer Series Point Standings.

Here are the cumulative point standings as of March 4 for the 2011 Summer Race Series (after the jump).

If you feel like you should have more points, then you will have to show up to the Monster Drag tonight...and ride faster than Parker and Gillian.

(More about) The Signs of Lekwungen

Hal not impressed with Parker's 27min winning time.
A couple of weeks ago, Mical and I decided to help out C-Dub and Brandon with the first alleycat of the year. Our checkpoint is usually the best: at The Chainline Massacre, we awarded a time bonus to racers who applied a "FIXIES ARE LAME" sticker to their frame (surprisingly, a lot of folks still have it on there bikes). Sadly, the cold weather meant that a lot of the letters didn't stick; you may see " IXIES ARE  AME" a lot around town. At this event, we hosted the beer-chug-for-a-spoke-card checkpoint.\

2010 Dallas Road Monster Drag

Would anyone else pay good money to wactch Halldor fight a caribou?

It has been raining all bloody day. Don't get me wrong: this city needed the bath, but it is always such gamble racing on wet roads slick with a summer's worth of oil drippings.
