Race Recap: The Great Escape Alleycat

Conclusion: we're faster at racing bikes than putting up blog posts.

The 2014 alleycat season start with the crisp crack of tall cans being opened, and an old-school charity race through Victoria's downtown.

Cause de jour: Dave Kennedy & Emily Donner's immigration legal morass.

On Friday, Jan 31st, 36 racers lined up for a chaotic Le Mans style start through the ruins at Macaulay Point Park. The goal was Harbour Road, after first completing six checkpoints, each with a challenge surpassing the last.

The Cross-Check GP

Tom Skinner has stepped up to organize Victoria's next less-sanctioned race: The Cross-Check GP!

The whole Stuckylife/VIACRA crew will be racing this one, so we have no idea what to expect. Here are the details Tom supplied:

"A checkpoint race with clues to where the finish line is. Bike and brain required. There will be some gravel sections, but everything should be ridable on slick tires. There will be prizes, free entry, and good times on bikes. Invite your friends."

To recap:
  • Sunday, September 23, 1:00pm
  • Switch Bridge
  • A checkpoint race with some gravel
  • No race license needed
  • Free
